Two Republican lawmakers are urging colleagues to support legislation ensuring state employees get paid. The bill, sponsored by State Representative Avery Bourne, creates a continuing appropriation for state workers, ensuring they get paid regardless if a state budget is in place. Democrats have a similar measure and Bourne says she’s been negotiating with the sponsor. But, nothing has happened in recent weeks and she’s asking fellow lawmakers to support the effort.
State law already ensures lawmakers and judges have a continuing appropriation for their paychecks.
