(Chicago, IL) — Chicago Public School leaders say they may turn students loose a few weeks early if they don’t get help from state lawmakers. CPS boss Forrest Claypool sent a letter to parents yesterday saying the school year could end three weeks early unless the state agrees to pay for Chicago teacher pensions and helps with the district’s 100-million-dollar deficit. Governor Rauner’s office says Chicago schools need to work on solutions and shouldn’t threaten students and parents.
