Vandalia sophomore Zane Steele and freshman Cameron Withers teamed up to take two of the top three spots in the Pole Vault at the 2017 Triad Knight Invitational held at Principia College on Saturday. Steele cleared 12’ 6” before going out while attempting what would have been a new personal best height of 12’ 9”. The cleared height was good for 2nd place being Carlinville’s Blake Hubbard who cleared the 12’ 9” height. Withers cleared a personal best height of 11’ 6” before failing to clear 11’ 9” to claim the 3rd place spot.
Also competing at the meet were sophomores Trevor Smalls and Blake Barth. Smalls finished in 9th place in the Long Jump with a best jump of 19’ 4 ¾” and Barth finished 15th in the 200m Dash with a time of 25.51 seconds and 18th in the Triple Jump with a best jump of 34’ 1”. Smalls and Barth both also competed in the 60m Dash but full results from the event were not available past the top eight finishers.
