Legislation sponsored by State Senator Kyle McCarter to prohibit Illinois taxpayer dollars from going to Planned Parenthood and other abortion providing agencies failed to get enough votes to pass the Senate’s Public Health Committee on Wednesday of this week. Senator McCarter told the committee those that are opposed to are co-oped thru the use of their tax dollars.
McCarter says Senate Bill 78 would not put the health and welfare of women at risk since the same public tax dollars could be used to fund the 670 federally qualified health clinics in Illinois that offer far more health care services than are currently offered by Planned Parenthood’s 16 statewide clinics. The legislation lost on a partisan vote of 3 to 6 with Republicans in support and Democrats opposed.
