There is some added concern over counterfeit $100 bills in the area. On their Facebook page on Monday, the Vandalia Police Department posted that they would like to make businesses and the public aware of fraudulent $100 bills that have been passed in other communities around the area. The bills have “FOR MOTION PICTURE USE ONLY” on the front and back. First National Bank of Vandalia put out a warning earlier this month over this and other types of bills that have been passed as of late. FNB said earlier this month the bills look real at first and is convincing enough to use on movie or tv sets and have the marking of “FOR MOTION PICTURE ONLY.” Area businesses that believe they have a counterfeit bill are asked to make contact with their local bank and the Police.
