St. Elmo-Brownstown’s Tessa Philpot and Cowden-Herrick-Beecher City’s Konner Blackerby were honored during halftime of the National Trail Conference boys basketball tournament on Saturday night. Philpot, a senior at St. Elmo High School is a member of the St. Elmo-Brownstown volleyball and softball teams. Blackerby, a senior at Cowden-Herrick High School is a member of the Cowden-Herrick-Beecher City basketball and baseball teams. Each year, the conference awards two scholarships, one to a female senior scholar-athlete and one to a male senior scholar-athlete. Each conference school nominates both a female and a male for the scholarships with the nominees then writing an essay. All nominees are recognized at halftime of the boys basketball tournament championship game with the scholarship recipients then being announced.
