>>Stay Issued Against Trump’s Immigration Ban
(New York, NY) — A judge is ordering a stay against parts of President Trump’s executive order banning immigration from seven countries. Immigration lawyers with the ACLU and others went to federal court in New York last night asking for the stay after dozens of people were detained at JFK and other airports across the country. The stay allows people who arrived at U.S. airports legally to remain in the U.S. The ruling also means anyone with a valid visa cannot be denied entry to the U.S. However, the ruling doesn’t apply to people in the affected countries who have not yet begun the process to enter the U.S. legally.

(Washington, DC) — President Trump is toughening restrictions on administration employees becoming lobbyists after they leave the government. Trump signed an executive order that bans White House aides and other administration officials from taking jobs lobbying their own agencies for a period of five years after leaving. Any lobbying would be banned for two years. The order follows up on one of Trump’s campaign pledges to “drain the swamp” of insider politics in Washington.

(Los Angeles, CA) — The director of an Oscar-nominated film might not be able to attend the Academy Awards ceremony next month because of President Trump’s travel ban from seven majority-Muslim countries. Iranian Asghar Farhadi’s film “The Salesman” is nominated in the foreign language category. Iran is one of the countries from which travel is banned for 90 days under Trump’s order and it’s unclear if Farhadi will be allowed to come to the U.S. One of the movie’s stars, Taraneh Alidoosti, said she won’t be attending the ceremony in protest.
>>Noriega Let Out For Brain Surgery
(Panama City) — Former Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega is on house arrest to undergo brain surgery. Noriega was deposed during a 1989 US invasion and sentenced on drug charges. He was later sent back to Panama to serve time for other charges. The 82-year-old has until April 28th to have a tumor removed.
>>AFC Faces NFC In 2017 Pro Bowl Sunday
(Orlando, FL) — The American Football Conference clashes with the National Football Conference in the 2017 Pro Bowl on Sunday in Orlando. The NFL’s All-Star Game returns to its conferenced-based format following three years of using a draft with players selected by designated captains. Jason Garrett of the Dallas Cowboys will serve as head coach of the NFC with his rookie quarterback Dak Prescott starting under center. Kansas City’s Andy Reid will coach the AFC. Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith will start for the AFC.
