The St. Elmo School Board wasted no time in finding the next Superintendent of the district to take over this summer when current Superintendent Deb Philpot retires at the end of June. After holding two special meetings earlier this month to conduct interviews with superintendent applicants, the St. Elmo School Board on Monday night approved the hiring of Julie Healy to serve as the new Superintendent of Schools beginning July 1 of this year. Healy is currently the Superintendent of the North Wayne School District based in Cisne, Illinois and has over 25 years of experience in education serving as a teacher and administrator. The contract for Healy will be a three-year contract running from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2020. Retiring Superintendent Deb Philpot has been with the St. Elmo School District in her current role since 2005 and her education career has spanned 34 years.
