Hearings on a massive budget and reform package are underway in the Illinois Senate, but a vote may not happen this week. The package is the result of negotiations between Senate Democrat and Republican leaders. Minority Leader Christine Radogno says there are many moving part and that they are looking for input.
The bill addresses everything from an increase in the minimum wage and the state income tax, pension reform, worker’s compensation reform and an expansion of gambling. A vote on the package looks to be delayed at this time, as it doesn’t look like measure would pass. There had been initially been hope of a vote today, but now it looks like they are just working to keep the proposal alive instead.
