(Springfield, IL) — A leading Democrat in the Illinois Senate is calling on Governor Rauner to get personally involved in negotiations with the state’s largest employee union. Senator Andy Manar says the union has made a “profound step” in the last few days by offering to accept a wage freeze, and Manar says Rauner should reciprocate. The union is scheduling a strike vote for later this month and Rauner has moved to implement the terms of the state’s last contract offer after a state board declared an impasse.
