It would appear, at least for a good amount of the area, that we did not get the freezing rain that was expected on Friday night and overnight. But, it is not over yet. We have gotten some rain and it is freezing on some elevated areas and also causing some travel issues on some country roads and less traveled areas. But, more looks to be on the way today. We are looking at rain and freezing rain mixing pretty much throughout the day today with a high of 34. The National Weather Service in St. Louis says new ice accumulation of less than one-tenth of an inch is possible for today. Tonight we will again have a chance of rain and freezing rain with a low tonight of 29.
As for Interstate travel, I-DOT’s latest map shows some patches of ice on Interstate 70 in Bond and Madison Counties but clear in Fayette County. It also shows some patches of ice on Interstate 57 in Marion County.
