Democrats are electing Michael Madigan to a record 17th term as speaker of the Illinois House. Madigan’s last term consisted of an ongoing budget stalemate, which he says cannot continue. The Speaker is laying out a jobs agenda, which includes reducing corporate income taxes by at least 50 percent.
Jim Durkin was chosen again as House Minority Leader. Senate Leadership remains the same as well, with John Cullerton re-elected to Senate President and Christine Radogno again elected as Senate Minority Leader.
