There was a slight increase in the University of Illinois’ flash index last month, signaling a little growth in the state economy. The flash ended a three month fall in December, rising from 104.1 to 104.3. U of I Economist J. Fred Giertz says it’s just another sign of the state’s slow recovery.
The flash is derived from corporate earnings, personal income and consumer spending. Giertz says sales receipts were up in December and individual income was down slightly.
