(Belleville, IL) — A special prosecutor is beginning an investigation into whether St. Clair County Judge Ronald Duebbert should be charged with obstruction of justice in connection with a murder case. Duebbert admits that a 20-year-old man now charged with murder lived with him for a time last year after he was released from prison. Duebbert has been questioned by investigators about his relationship with David Fields, who’s accused of fatally shooting Carl Silas last Friday. State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly asked for a special prosecutor after Chief Judge Andrew Gleeson temporarily removed Duebbert from the bench.
