In their final meeting of 2016, The Vandalia City Council authorized the purchase of cameras for outside placement on City Hall. A bid from ProWire in the amount of $2196.50 was presented to the council and Mayor Rick Gottman explained that there has been some vandalism downtown that warranted to move for cameras.
Alderman Mike Hobler questioned how much maintenance there would be for the cameras and Mayor Gottman and Police Chief Jeff Ray both stated that there would be little needed maintenance from what they have experienced with the same company that cameras have been purchased from for the police department and have been used at the hospital. Following the short discussion, the council voted 8-0 in favor of the purchase.
Meanwhile, the Vandalia City Council will hold their first meeting of 2017 tonight at 7:30 pm at Vandalia City Hall.
