A new state law that took effect Sunday requires licensed beauty professionals to take a course on spotting the signs of domestic violence. Supporters of the law say since these professionals works so closely with their clients, they should be trained in what to look for when it comes to abuse. Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations spokesperson Terry Horstman explains the legislation.
The law does not mandate beauty professionals to report suspected abuse.
