A Ramsey man was killed in a two vehicle accident Wednesday afternoon in Fayette County. Illinois State Police reports indicate a vehicle driven by 70 year old Sheredith L. Durbin of Ramsey was traveling southbound on County Road 1400 East, about 6 miles east of Ramsey, when State Police reports say Durbin failed to yield at the intersection of County Road 2800 North—which is referred to as Ramsey blacktop. A vehicle driven by 42 year old Shawna L. Storm of Ramsey was westbound on Ramsey blacktop and struck the Durbin vehicle just behind the driver’s side door. Durbin’s vehicle came to rest in the south ditch of Ramsey blacktop and Storm’s vehicle came to the rest on the south shoulder of the blacktop. State Police reports say that Sheredith L. Durbin was killed in the crash while a passenger in the Durbin vehicle, 61 year old Sandra K. Durbin of Ramsey, was flown to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. Fayette County Coroner Bruce Bowen says the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and Ramsey Fire Department also responded to the scene. Durbin was pronounced dead by Coroner Bowen at 5:04 pm on Wednesday evening. Bowen adds the crash remains under investigation by the Fayette County Coroner’s office and the Illinois State Police.
