After a very rough travel night around the area, we are looking at the chance for more wintry precipitation for today and tonight. Although temperatures have climbed above freezing overnight, they have not gotten as warm as what was originally predicted. It now looks like we’ll see a high in the upper 30s to possibly 40 this morning—the temperatures will begin to fall. The National Weather Service in St. Louis says we could see some drizzle or freezing drizzle early in the afternoon today, then the potential for sleet, and then snow after that. We will see temperatures fall throughout the day today. We are expecting little to no accumulation of any kind today. Tonight, we’ll see snow and freezing rain–possibly mixed with sleet–then changing over to all snow. Temperatures will continue to fall and we’ll see a low tonight of 9. New snow and sleet accumulation for tonight of less than one half inch is expected. The extreme cold will stay with us as we’ll see a high of just 12 on Sunday and we are looking at a low of 2 for Sunday night.
