The St. Elmo-Brownstown Eagles will have an opportunity to play for the championship of its own tournament after defeating Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 72-54 on Night 3 of the St. Elmo Holiday Tournament Thursday night. The Eagles were able to outscore the Bobcats in every quarter to take the win and move themselves into Saturday night’s Championship game. Landon Feezel led SEB with 31 points and 9 rebounds, Isaac Maxey tallied 15 points and Klayton Kroll had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. For CHBC, Konner Blackerby and Cody grove each had 16 points. St. Elmo-Brownstown will get the winner of tonight’s other semifinal game between Cumberland and Vandalia while CHBC will play the loser of that game in the 3rd place game.
In the consolation bracket, Mulberry Grove defeated Clay City, 76-42. Courtlyn Latham led Mulberry Grove with 22 points and Michael Sloan tallied 15 points while Jake Linnabary added 13 points and Joey Linnabary scored 11 points. For Clay City, Noah Wilkin finished with 19 points and Nick Miller added 14 points. Mulberry Grove will advance to the 5th Place game to be played Saturday at 4:30 and Clay City will now play for 7th Place on Saturday at 3pm.
Tonight at the SEHT, South Central and Ramsey will square off in the consolation bracket at 6:15pm with the winner to move into the 5th place game against Mulberry Grove and the loser will go to the 7th place game to take on Clay City. At 7:45pm, the second semifinal game of the tournament will feature Vandalia taking on Cumberland with the winner to move into the championship game to face St. Elmo-Brownstown while the loser will go to the 3rd place game to take on CHBC.
