Many county and state agencies were represented at the final quarterly Fayette County Law Enforcement meeting of the year. Hosted by Fayette County Sheriff Chris Smith in the small courtroom on Friday afternoon, those in attendance included officers from the communities in the county, sheriff’s deputies and many state agencies. And Sheriff Smith says the meetings are good for everyone to get on the same page and help each other with information and training.
The majority of the meeting featured a presentation by Shad Shymansky of the Illinois Department of Revenue who spoke about the rising trafficking of illegal cigarettes. And we will talk with Smith about that tomorrow on Newscenter.
