Governor Bruce Rauner is signing the Future Energy Jobs Bill, keeping open nuclear plants in Clinton and the Quad Cities. The legislation ensures the two plants stay up and running for the next 10 years, through 235 million dollars in ratepayer subsidies. Governor Rauner says this will save thousands of jobs.
The new law sets caps so that energy prices cannot increase more than 25 cents a month for the average residential home. Additionally the law will help expand alternative energy programs such as wind and solar.
