A Vandalia man was sentenced in Fayette County Court on Tuesday to 17 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. 33-year old Kevin K. Cook pled guilty to violating his probation on a previous charge of unlawful possession of methamphetamine and was sentenced by Judge Don Sheafor to 5 years in the DOC. That sentence will be served concurrently with a sentence of 17 years in the DOC stemming from a guilty plea on a charge of participation in methamphetamine manufacturing and unlawful possession of methamphetamine. Cook will also receive another three years in the DOC to be served consecutive to the previous 17-year sentence from Fayette County after he pled guilty in Effingham County to a charge of possession of methamphetamine.
