The Vandalia City Council will look to act on the city’s 2016 tax levy after discussing possible levy amounts during their first meeting of the month on Monday night. Dale Timmerman of Timmerman & Associates presented the numbers to the council explaining that one set of numbers was an estimate due to not receiving information from the Department of Insurance yet but possible tax levies shown were 12% and 21%.
And with police pension being the only area that would see an increase in its levy amounts, alderman Andy Lester asked Timmerman if rate of return on the city’s investment was a factor. And Timmerman explained it was one of many factors for the levy increases.
The city will now have to decide on a levy amount at their next meeting on Monday, December 19.
