Governor Bruce Rauner is urging lawmakers to drop a lawsuit over their paychecks. Six Democratic legislators recently sued the Illinois Comptroller for not issuing their paychecks on time. The office has been placing their checks in the long line of bills waiting to be paid. Governor Rauner says they should drop the suit, calling it an insult to taxpayers.
The state currently has a backlog of bills totaling over 10 billion dollars. Lawmakers most recently were paid their May paycheck at the end of August.
