(Urbana, IL) — The state’s economic health is declining, according to an index compiled by the University of Illinois. The Flash Index from the school’s Institute of Government and Public Affairs fell in November to one-hundred-four-point-one, a drop of two-tenths of a point. Any reading above a hundred means the economy is growing, but the institute says November declines in corporate and sales tax receipts are pushing the index in the wrong direction for the third month in row.
