(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner is defending a bill he supports that will hit ComEd ratepayers with an increase to bail out two of Exelon’s nuclear plants. He told the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association today that while he doesn’t like corporate welfare, he had to deal with the cards he was dealt, namely the prospect of job losses if plants in Clinton and the Quad Cities shut down. Lawmakers went home after passing the Exelon bill, but not either a short-term or full-year budget. Rauner told his audience today that he plans to meet with legislative leaders tomorrow and Sunday.
