The Vandalia High School boys and girls bowling teams both fell to Centralia in their first ever home match on Thursday. The match was the first of the season for the boys. The Vandals fell behind early by 191 pins after the first game but were able to cut into Centralia’s lead after winning the second game by 59 pins. The Vandals then fell by 4 pins in the third and final game as they fall in the match 2427 pins to 2231 pins.
In the Lady Vandals match, the girls fell behind 787-655 after the first game but made a comeback with a win in the second game to pull within 82 pins of Centralia. The Lady Vandals then continued their comeback in the third game pulling off a 62-pin win. However, that win was not enough to pull them ahead in total pin count as the Lady Vandals fall 2281 pins to 2261 pins. And speaking after the matches were done, Vandals Coach Tony Richardson says the first years teams are having fun competing so far.
The Vandalia girls are now 1-1 on the season while the Vandalia boys are now 0-1 on the season. The boys team will be back in action this Saturday at the Springfield Invitational Tournament.
