(Springfield, IL) — About three-dozen lawmakers from both sides of the political aisle are asking Governor Rauner to go back to the bargaining table with the state’s largest public employee union, AFSCME. The state labor board has ruled that the talks are at an impasse, a decision that empowers Rauner to impose the terms of the state’s last offer on the union’s 30-thousand members. The union says it’s ready to resume discussions, but there’s been no response from Rauner’s office so far.
