The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office asked for mutual aid assistance from numerous surrounding Police Agencies, including the Vandalia Police Department, on Wednesday in conducting a traffic safety campaign along Interstate 70. There were several arrests during the six hour detail:
30 year old Juan C. Campos-Travares, 22 year old Hemishu R. Jones and 18 year old Cordell L. Shelton–all three of Ohio–were all three arrested on pending charges of Possession of Cannabis and Delivery of Cannabis as all three were allegedly in possession of 24.5 pounds of Cannabis. All three remain in the Fayette County Jail.
Also arrested during the event:
21 year old Justin A. Sawitke of Colorado was arrested on pending charges of Aggravated Battery to a Peace Office, Aggravated Assault and Possession of Cannabis. Sawitke remains in the Fayette County Jail.
32 year old Amy L. Brooks of Missouri was arrested on pending charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and a Failure To Appear Warrant from Randolph County, Illinois. Brooks remains in the Fayette County Jail.
Four other individuals were also arrested on traffic offenses.
The agencies assisting the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office included the Vandalia Police Department, Illinois State Police, Illinois Commerce Police, Fayette County States Attorney’s Office, St. Elmo Police, Farina Police, Hillsboro Police. Marion County, Perry County, Bond County, Macon County, Washington County and Shelby County Sheriff’s offices and ILEAS.
