(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner is launching an offensive against government red tape that he says stifles business growth. Rauner says state government is saddled with thousands of outdated and unnecessary regulations.
He says a new group, the Illinois Competitiveness Council, will dig deep into state agencies to see what can be eliminated. Rauner says while many regulations are well-intentioned, they have unintended consequences like making it difficult to run a business. He says other regulations are designed to be anti-competitive. Rauner says the council’s goal is to save Ilinoisans at least a quarter-billion dollars in license fee costs over the next decade.
