(Chicago, IL) — U.S. Senator Mark Kirk is firing back at the “Chicago Tribune” over the newspaper’s endorsement of his Democrat opponent, congresswoman Tammy Duckworth. Editorial writers cited Kirk’s continuing health concerns after his 2012 stroke as the reason for not backing him as they’d done in six previous general elections. Kirk’s campaign manager Kevin Artl issued a statement calling the endorsement a “low-blow” and a “cheap shot,” that ignored Kirk’s record of protecting Illinois jobs and securing money to crack down on gang violence.
