Timothy Lee Emerick, 59, of Vandalia passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at SLU Hospital, St. Louis, MO from injuries sustained in a tractor-trailer accident.
Visitation for Tim Emerick will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm, Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Vandalia and from 9:00 to 10:00 am on Friday, October 14. Services will be held at 10:00am, Friday, October 14, 2016 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Vandalia with Pastor Jerry Bagwell officiating. Burial will follow in McInturff Cemetery, in rural Vandalia.
Tim was born August 11, 1957 in Vandalia, the son of Lester “Marion” and Ann M. (Gerace) Emerick. He graduated from Vandalia Community High School in1975 and continued his education at Lake Land College. He married Patricia Jane Grandt on November 20, 1976 at Augsburg Immanuel Lutheran Church. Tim and his family are lifelong farmers and entrepreneurs, having owned and operated farm implement dealerships, a trucking company, and farm businesses. In 2008, Tim and his family decided to sell the dealerships and focus on growing their family farm in Vandalia. He loved his customers and considered working with them and marketing the grain as his favorite tasks. Tim also was elected and served on the Vandalia School Board for 8 years, and served as chairman for 5 of those 8 years. Tim also served as a director and president of the Mississippi Valley Dealers Association where he led the restructuring committee. Work was Tim’s hobby and his joy because he was able to work with his brothers and then later his three children.
Tim is survived by his wife Patti Emerick, son Matthew Emerick and wife Kelly, daughter Betsey Emerick, son Benji Emerick, grandchildren Makenzie and Brody Emerick, brother Gary Emerick and wife Beth, sister-in-law Ann Emerick, brother-in-law Brad Grandt and wife Tricia, all of Vandalia; nephews and nieces Greg Emerick and wife Ede, Todd Emerick and wife Tracey, Lucas Emerick and wife Sally, Tina and husband Matthew Benning, Charles Grandt, Megan and husband Beau Beall, Heather and husband Gale Becker, Emily and husband Cody Logan; and 16 great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronnie Emerick, father and mother-in-law Charles and Alberta Grandt. Tim loved his family, his farm, and the Lord.
