(Chicago, IL) — Two wealthy allies of Governor Bruce Rauner are behind an influx of campaign cash being funneled through the coffers of State Comptroller Leslie Munger. Munger is transferring three-million-dollars to the state GOP days after her campaign got five-million in donations from donors Richard Uihlein and Ken Griffin. The money will be distributed to candidates in legislative races in a way that avoids the caps on individual campaign donations in place in most of those races. GOP officials say the move enables them to match the spending done by Democrats, who have long used similar maneuvers.
