(Springfield, IL) — Far more Illinois hunters want permits to hunt bobcats than the state has available. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources says nearly 65-hundred hunters applied for just five-hundred permits. The winners will be chosen by lottery in about two weeks and notified by mail. Each permit is good for one bobcat, either by hunting, trapping or salvaging road kill. The season runs from November 10 to January 31.
