(Chicago, IL) — A man who claims he was molested as a teen by former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert is urging Illinois lawmakers to remove time limits for prosecuting child sex abuse crimes. Scott Cross called for new legislation yesterday while testifying in front of a state Senate criminal law panel. The current law says someone can be prosecuted for a sex crime against a child 20 years after the victim turns 18-years-old. Cross accuses Hastert of abusing him in 1979 while he was a member of the Yorkville High School wrestling team. The ex-politician is serving a 15-month sentence after pleading guilty to banking violations related to a hush-money case.
