(Chicago, IL) — Challenger Tammy Duckworth is attacking incumbent U.S. Senator Mark Kirk with about a month left in the campaign. In a joint appearance before the “Chicago Tribune” editorial board, Duckworth ticked off a number of controversial statements Kirk has made and questioned his judgment on national security issues. Kirk did not return fire during this first face-to-face meeting, instead emphasizing his role as a moderate in the Senate, calling himself the “glue” between the two parties. Kirk also said in response to a Duckworth question that he thinks the King of Jordan would welcome an increased U.S. military presence.
