Historically speaking, Illinois should be seeing it’s first frost some time this month. State Climatologist Jim Angel says according to the data fall frost dates range from early October in northern Illinois, mid month in central Illinois and late October for the southern part of the state.
Angel says they don’t measure frost per say, but count temperatures of 32 degrees as frost and 28 degrees for a hard freeze.
