(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner is promising that the state’s two-hundredth birthday party will be awesome. Rauner today announced during a live Facebook chat that he’s created the Governor’s Office of the Bicentennial to coordinate the activities for the anniversary in 2018, with Stuart Layne of Evanston as executive director. A 51-member commission will eventually be appointed to come up with ideas. Governor Pat Quinn named a similar commission in 2014, but it never took any action.
