(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner says his administration will do more to “root out” improper patronage hiring in state government. His statement today follows last week’s dismissal of 29 Department of Transportation employees who were hired into a special job category designed to be immune from anti-patronage regulations. Rauner says such employees are in virtually every state department, but he says his efforts to get rid of them have been slowed by the lack of a state budget.
