(Springfield, IL) — The head of Governor Rauner’s newly-named state fair foundation is admitting it could take years to complete all of the repairs needed at the fairgrounds. The Rauner Administration estimates that about a hundred-80-million-dollars worth of work is needed and foundation head John Slayton admits raising that amount of money from private sources could take years. On the to-do list are about a dozen roof repairs and an electrical system upgrade in Springfield, as well as grandstand improvements and a fire-alarm system in DuQuoin.
