(Pittsburgh, PA) — Matt Carpenter, Randal Grichuk and Jhonny Peralta all homered with two outs in the ninth inning to lift the Cardinals past the Pirates 9-7 at PNC Park. Carpenter’s pinch-hit solo shot tied the game at six and Grichuk gave the Redbirds the lead with a two-run blast two batters later. Yadier Molina went 4-for-5 including a grand slam in the first inning, while Matt Adams added a solo shot in the third for St. Louis.

Jason Hammel allowed eight earned runs and 13 hits in five-and-two-thirds innings to fall to 14-and-8. The Cubs and Brewers play the series finale tonight.
