(St. Louis, MO) — Luke Weaver lasted six innings for his first big-league win as the Cardinals clipped the A’s, 3-1, in St. Louis. Weaver gave up four hits and one run while striking out seven. Jedd Gyorko belted a two-run homer, and Seung Hwan Oh made his 13th save. Ross Detwiler gave up all three runs to take the loss for Oakland. Yonder Alonso’s solo shot prevented the shutout.
(Los Angeles, CA) — Kris Bryant had a pair of homers including the go-ahead shot in the 10th inning as the Cubs downed the Dodgers, 6-4, in 10 innings from Los Angeles. Bryant is now one dinger ahead of Nolan Arenado for the league-lead. Mike Montgomery pitched five innings and Travis Wood earned the relief win. Aroldis Chapman racked up his 10th save in a Cubs uniform. Adam Liberatore took the loss for the Dodgers after giving up Bryant’s second homer. Adrian Gonzalez went long for L.A.
