The pre-trial hearing of a 23-year old Vandalia woman charged with injuring her, at that time, 3 ½ month old baby in February of this year was continued again on Wednesday. Aubree Hammer is charged with the offense of aggravated battery to a child under the age of 13 with great bodily harm or permanent disability, which is a Class X Felony. Currently, the prosecution is still waiting to receive and review the opinions and findings of expert witnesses. In the meantime, the matter has been set for an adjudicatory hearing on September 15 and Fayette County State’s Attorney Josh Morrison says the criminal aspect of the case will come, but there are some things to be taken care of as far as the interest of the young child and the alleged victim in the case.
Hammer remains in custody in the Fayette County Jail on $1 million bond.
