(Springfield, IL) — A new federal report confirms that Illinois continues to trail the nation in key economic indicators including job growth. The report from the staff of Congress’ Joint Economic Committee holds a ray of good news though — Illinois‘ latest jobless figures put it further from the bottom of the list. The unemployment rate of five-point-eight-percent is tied with Washington for tenth-highest in the nation, but that’s better than in April when Illinois was tied for second-worst with Alaska. The national jobless rate is four-point-nine-percent.
