It was another wet week for many Illinois crops, with above average rainfall across much of the state. Average statewide topsoil moisture increased this past week thanks to all the rain and is now rated at one percent very short, 3 percent short, 74 percent adequate and 22 percent surplus. State Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener says 89 percent of corn is now in the dough stage.
89 percent of soybeans are now setting pods and two percent are turning color. The condition of the crop is about the same as last week, with 79 percent in good to excellent condition although there have been some reports of sudden death syndrome.
