A large crowd turned out Friday evening for a prayer service at Brownstown’s Central Park to honor local law enforcement, fire department and EMS personnel. Throughout the evening, prayers from local pastors and ministers were given as well as a brief address from Brownstown Mayor Ginny Wilbur. Speaking of her personal experiences with law enforcement, Wilbur spoke of how close tragedy can hit to home, explaining about her nephew, Bardstown, Kentucky police officer, Jason Ellis being killed in the line of duty.
And Wilbur going on to say law enforcement personnel are heroes to her.
Also during the ceremony, the crowd heard a quick few words from Fayette County Sheriff Chris Smith as well as special guest, Captain Jeff Fuesting of the St. Louis County Police Department who was in attendance for the service. Members of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, Brownstown Police and Fire Departments, Vandalia Fire Department as well members of the MABUS 54 Fire Color Guard were some of the agencies in attendance for the service.
