Edna Ilene Sidwell, 93, of Brownstown, died at 5:10 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Aperion Care, St. Elmo.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Gieseking-Claggett Funeral Home, Brownstown. Burial will follow at Forbis Cemetery, rural Brownstown. Visitation will be for two hours prior to service time. Memorials may be made to Forbis Cemetery, Aperion Care Activities Fund or the donor’s choice.
Ilene was born on Tuesday, April 3, 1923 in rural Brownstown to Edward and Emma (Quade) Gurtner. She married Edward Sidwell on April 23, 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1996. She was a member of Bethany Christian Church, rural Brownstown. She was a charter member of the Fayette County Home Extension (started in 1948) and was known as the “porkburger lady” at the Fayette County Fair. She enjoyed bingo, dominoes, trivia, word searches and listening to musical entertainment.
She is survived by; her sons Arthur Sidwell and his wife MargIe, Paul Sidwell and his wife Sharon and Russell Sidwell all of Brownstown; four grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, and 4 sisters.
