A Mulberry Grove woman was arrested for her alleged involvement in a hit and run accident on Thursday night in Vandalia. Vandalia Police reports indicate that officers responded at 8:54 pm Thursday night to Illinois Route 185, just north of the Fast Stop to a report of a hit and run accident with no injuries between two vehicles. Reports say that 52 year old Lisa J. Robbins of Vandalia was driving behind another vehicle driven by 45 year old Hazel D. Perkins of Mulberry Grove. According to the report, that is when Perkins is alleged to have stopped in the roadway, allegedly put her vehicle in reverse and ran into the victim’s vehicle. Police say Perkins was later found and arrested at her residence by Bond County Sheriff’s Deputies and then picked up by Vandalia Police officers. Perkins was arrested on pending charges of Obstructing a Peace Officer, Leaving the Scene of an Accident with vehicle damage, Failure to Report an Accident, Failure to Give Information, Improper Backing, and Failure to Report an address change to the Secretary of State. Perkins remains in the Fayette County Jail.
