(Springfield, IL) — The Illinois State Fair opens later this week, but because of the state’s budget crisis, the price of a ticket is up 40 percent to ten-dollars. In addition, the preview night and the last day of the fair, August 11th and 21st are no longer free, but will cost five-bucks. Fair organizers, though, say there will be new carnival rides, more exotic food items and bigger acts on the grandstand stage, including Pat Benatar, Kiss, ZZ Top, Dierks Bentley and Meghan Trainor.
