(Springfield, IL) — Illinois lawmakers could vote today on bills that would pay for education and essential state services. Following two days of closed meetings, legislators reached a tentative agreement yesterday on a six-month stopgap spending plan and a full year of funding for Illinois schools. Emerging from a break, Senate President John Cullerton gave a quick comment.
The General Assembly is under pressure to reach a deal with the current fiscal year set to begin tomorrow.
